The construction project is scheduled to be fully completed by the end of 2014.

Mr. Thongphan continued that the Nam Khanh dam with generation capacity of 130 megawatts will be than focused on supplying electricity to the northernmost provinces of Laos.

All electricity generated by the Nam Khan 2 dam will be supplied to the Electricite du Laos, a main electricity supplier in the Lao PDR.

“Villagers in nine villages have been reportedly evacuated from the construction site including five in Sieng Nguen district and four in Phoukhoun district,” he pointed out. “However, the compensation amounting to over 70 billion kip are available for evacuators.”

Between 4,000-5,000 people are in employment at the moment.
