Savannakhet asks for funding for post-floods efforts
Savannakhet needs large amount of government funding for its recovery efforts in the aftermath of typhoons and recent floods, according to senior official from the province.
Mr. Bounyou Thammavong, Head of the Savannakhet Provincial Administration Office, said that the funding is needed for recovery efforts in 12 out of 15 districts in the province, especially for maintaining and repairing irrigation systems and the development of anti-flood and drought systems.
Further funding is also needed for the development in educational sector, especially the basic infrastructure of the Savannakhet University, which now lacks educational equipment for both teachers and students, and schooling buildings, as well as for the upgrading of road No 9 and 23 which connects Savannakhet to Saravane province.
