Chummaly Sayasone, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and State President, received Huynh Dam, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), in Vientiane on November 25.
Mr Sayasone welcomed Mr Dam’s working visit and hailed the result of cooperation programmes between the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
He said the two fronts should continue to carry out more activities to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year in 2012.
He expressed his hope the two fronts will maintain the exchange of visits to share experience and educate young Lao and Vietnamese people about the time-honoured friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
For his part, Mr Dam briefed his host on the VFF-LFNC talks during which both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in the front affairs and increase the exchange of delegations, including the establishment of more twin towns between the two countries’ border localities.
He affirmed that the Party, government, Fatherland Front and people of Vietnam are proud of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laos, which was founded and fostered by late presidents Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam and Kaysone Phomvihane of Laos as well as many other generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front will do its utmost to cement bilateral relations, said Mr Dam.
The same day, the VFF President was received by Pany Yathoutu, Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly.
