Japan grants over USD 58,300 for valuable artifacts storage in Luang Prabang
Vientiane , Nov 29- Japanese Ambassador Junko Yokata signed here an agreement on grant assistance from the Japanese government for the construction of a warehouse for ancient and valuable artifacts at the National Fine Arts School in Luang Prabang.

The Lao signatory to the agreement was Director of the National Fine Arts School Bouakhen Anoulak.
The US$ 58,631 financial assistance from the Japanese government will go to the construction of a fully equipped warehouse on the school’s premises in which valuable artifacts such as Buddhist images will be kept.
A number of Buddhist statues have been reportedly damaged and need to be restored urgently and beside to the preservation of valuable artifacts, the assistance from the Japanese government is also aimed at contributing to the development of tourism in the province, according to a press release by the Japanese Embassy in Vientiane.
“I hope through this assistance the National Fine Arts School in Luang Prabang will be further improved and is able to play a key role in preserving the Lao original and traditional fine arts and in inheriting it to the next generation,” said the Ambassador.
