A memorial to Ho Chi Minh will be built in Khammuan province’s Nongbok district.
An agreement for the project was signed last week at the Khammuan provincial Office between the Committee Responsible for the Kaysone Phomvihane Museum (CRKM) and the Xamneua Residential Construction Joint-Venture Company.
The agreement was signed by Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee Office Deputy Head and CRKM Head Mr Souvandy Sisavat on behalf of the project owner and construction company director Mr Mayvieng Vandara, witnessed by Khammuan provincial Governor Mr Khamby Damlath and representatives from the ministries of Planning and Investment, Finance, and Public Works and Transport . The memorial will be built in Xiengvang village on a 15,125 square metre site.
Xamneua Residential Construction Joint-Venture Company will be responsible for the construction of a concrete road and fence around the area, a fishpond, reservoir, souvenir shop, maintenance shed, garden and drainage system, and electricity and lighting installation, worth more than 15 billion kip .
In addition, Vietnam will undertake the construction of an exhibition house and worship hall.
Mr Souvandy said the project is historically and politically important, reflecting the traditional special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, governments, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
He explained that the memorial will commemorate the revolutionary achievements of Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh, including his assistance to the Lao people.
The project will be completed in the near future to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 35th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between Laos and Vietnam.
