Govt grants 1,000 ha in Sepon to Chinese investor for rubber plantation\
Government has signed an agreement granting a 1,000 ha in Sepon, Savannakhet, as land concession to Chinese firm Quangda-Lao for its rubber tree plantation.
The agreement was signed in Vientiane Capital on December 22, between Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Akhom Tounalom, and Director of Quangda-Lao, Mr. Zhong Wen Zhuo. Relevant officials of both sides witnessed the signing.
Since Sepon district borders Vietnam, the export to Vietnam is relatively easy. The area is productive from agriculture, according to Mr. Zhong.
In the beginning of 2012, the company will commence its rubber plantation.
The company needs at least 300 workers so that it can complete the plantation by next years end.
