Friendship between Vietnamese and Lao Armies boosted

Senior Lieutenant-General Do Ba Ty receives the senior-officer delegation from the Lao People’s Army

At the reception, General Ty stressed that the relationship between the two armies had developed strongly, contributing to accomplishment of the two armies’ military and defence tasks.

In 2011, exchanges among delegates at all levels led to good results in training cadres and sharing information.

General Ty also congratulated and highly appreciated the Lao People’s Army’s achievements over the past years.

As well, he expressed his hope that the Lao delegation’s visit to Vietnam, from February 12th to 19th, would help boost the mutual understanding between the two armies and the special friendship between the two neighbouring countries. The visit will initiate a series of activities launched during the Year of Friendship and Solidarity of Vietnam and Laos 2012.

On his part, Major-General Subun Hunnachampa thanked his hosts for their warm welcome and confirmed that the Laos People’s Army would try their best to consolidate and develop solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

Earlier, at the reception given to the Lao delegation, Lieutenant-General Luong Cuong, Deputy-Chief of the General Department of Politics of Vietnam, said that the solidarity between Vietnam and Laos had been consolidated along with the fruitfully comprehensive cooperation, especially in the field of defence.

General Cuong also expressed deep gratitude to the great wholehearted support by the Party, the State, Army and People of Laos in the national construction and defence cause.

General Cuong stressed that the consolidation and enhancement of traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos played a vital role in maintaining stability and development of the two countries in contribution to stability and peace in the region and in the world.

The same day, the Lao delegation visited the Hanoi Capital High Command.

Major-General Subun Hunnachampa said that precious experiences shared during the exchange would be learnt and applied in reality by Lao troops in the coming time.

During the visit to Vietnam this time, the Lao delegation will have various exchanges with and conduct fact-finding trips to some units and academies under the Vietnamese People’s Army.
