Nhan Dan – The special solidarity and multi-faceted co-operation between Vietnam and Lao have been unceasingly consolidated and enhanced, especially in trade and investment, laying firm foundation to promote the sound relationship between the two countries in the future.

The point was happily recognised by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong during a talk in the highland province of Kon Tum on February 23, on the occasion of a four-day visit of PM Thammavong and a high-ranking delegation of his cabinet to Kon Tum, Gia Lai, and Binh Dinh highland provinces at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Previously, on behalf of PM Dung, Deputy PM Phuc warmly received PM Thammavong and his delegation at Pleiku Airport, saying his visit vividly showcases the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries.

At the talk, Deputy PM Phuc appreciated the Lao government and people for their great achievements in socio-economic development and foreign affairs, which have helped lift the country's position in the regional and international arena.

He emphasised the significance of such a visit to Vietnam’s provinces and expressed belief that the trip peresented a good opportunity to exchange experiences in socio-economic development at the provincial level, further boosting the close relationship and multi-faceted co-operation between the two countries and their localities.

The Lao PM expressed his delight at visiting the three provinces and the respectfully warm reception from the Vietnamese Government, leaders and local people, reflecting the deeply close friendship and strong solidarity between the two Parties, Governments, and peoples.

The two sides agreed on implementing actively high-level agreements and the outcome of the 34th Inter-governmental Committee meeting, enhancing available co-operation mechanisms to deepen the two countries’ economic co-operation effectively and practically.
