AFD gives EUR 2 million for heritage preservation in Laos

(KPL) The French International development agency (AFD) has decided to provide grant assistance worth two million Euros (20.8 billion kip) to further support the preservation of cultural, historic and natural heritage in Luang Prabang and Champassak.
An agreement on the grant assistance from France was signed at the Ministry of Planning and Investment in Vientiane Capital on March 26, between Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Mr. Somchith Inthamith, and Charge d’ Affaire of the French Embassy to Laos, Mr. Guillaume Habert and AFD to Laos Director Mr. Andre Pouilles Duplaix. Relevant officials of both sides witnessed the event.
Of the grant, Eros 1.5 million will go to the preservation of heritage in Luang Prabang and the rest 500,000 euros to Champassak.
Since 1998, the French international development agency (AFD) has provided 11.5 million euros (122 billion kip) to support the implementation of the heritage preservation project in the two provinces
