Nhan Dan – The book set, ‘A History of the Special Relationship between Vietnam and Laos (1930-2007)’ was introduced in Lao capital city of Vientiane on May 10.

The compilation of the collection began in 2007 and was completed in 2011. It is the result of hard work by many scientists, researchers, historians, historical witnesses and war veterans from both countries and comprises six main components, featuring the establishment and development of the bilateral Vietnam-Laos relationship, as well as documents from the two Parties and States and significant events in their relations.

Addressing the conference, Politburo member, Vice President, and permanent member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee Secretariat Bounhang Volachit spoke highly of the special Vietnam-Laos relationship and affirmed that the Lao State, Party and people will continue to nurture and strengthen the special ties between the two countries.

He also stressed the need to educate people from all walks of life about the history of the time-honoured Vietnam-Laos friendship, particularly the younger generations of both nations, so that they will be able to uphold and develop the traditional ties.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Ta Minh Chau thanked the Laos Commission for Communication and Training for hosting the event which, together with the other activities planned during the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2012, will contribute to raising the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between the two nations to a new level.

The ambassador also affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people have always appreciated the great support of their Lao friends and will do their utmost to deepen the treasured bilateral friendship.
