A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the soil survey and feasibility study of a project to plant rubber trees in northern Laos has just been signed between the Lao Deputy-Minister of Investment and Planning, Bounthavy Sisouphanthong and the Director of Dien Bien Rubber Company, Vietnam, Nguyen Hong Thang.
Under the deal, the Vietnamese Company will make preparatory steps to invest in rubber plantations with an aggregate area of 1,000 ha in the districts of Muong Hun and Muong Beng, in the Lao northern Province of Udomxai.
At the signing ceremony, the Director of Dien Bien Rubber Company said that this was the first-ever rubber planting project invested in northern Laos by a Vietnamese investor.
“Although local infrastructure is in a poor condition, the Company with its long-term traditions and rich experience will overcome all difficulties to successfully implement the project,” affirmed the Director.
