Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said that Vietnam and Laos will continue to effectively implement the agreements reached, especially in economic, trade and investment co-operation, bringing two-way trade to record levels in the future.
The PM stated this while receiving Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Lengsavath in Hanoi on August 28.
The government leader said that he hopes both countries will step up the exchange of information and collaborate and support each other at international and regional forums.
PM Dung also said he was pleased at the development of the Vietnam- Laos special relationship and praised the joint co-operation between both countries when organising the events to mark Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2012.
The Lao leader promised that the country will do its best to foster the special relationship with Vietnam.
He said that he hopes both will prioritise economic co-operation, with special attention paid to the progress, quality and effectiveness of joint projects.
Both countries should maintain regular exchanges of officials at various levels and step up the people-to-people exchanges to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding, he said, adding that Laos hopes that Vietnam will share its experiences in national construction and socio-economic development with Laos.
Both host and guest stated that the Vietnam-Laos special relationship is an invaluable asset for both countries that needs to be fostered and maintained for future generations.
