Deputy PM Lengsavad praised the NAPPA delegation's visit, which comes when the two countries are celebrating Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year. He expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam, as well as NAPPA, for their assistance to Laos, particularly in political theory training and developing Marxism-Leninism in the country.
The Lao Deputy PM spoke highly of the co-operation between Vietnam's NAPPA and the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, especially in training human resources and core staff for the Lao Party apparatus and local governments.
He urged the two political academies to continue exchanging experiences and promoting the further development of friendship and multi-faceted co-operation between the two countries.
The same day, Professor Tan, under the authorisation of President Truong Tan Sang, presented the Vietnamese Independence Order, first class, to the Lao NAPPA for its outstanding achievements in strengthening the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries.
Lao NAPPA director, Kikeo Khaykhamphithoun, was also presented the Vietnamese Independence Order, second class, and several other outstanding collectives and individuals were awarded the Independence Order, third class, and the Friendship Order.
The Vietnamese delegation also attended a handing over ceremony on October 19 for the second phase of a project to upgrade the Lao NAPPA.
The Vietnam funded project, worth more than VND100 billion, includes a main building with 32 classrooms and staff rooms, as well as a four-storey dormitory with 62 rooms and other support facilities.
