MALAYSIAN firm Universal Pacific Lao Co Ltd (UPL), which is undertaking the Dongphosy Specific Economic Zone (DSEZ) joint development with the Laos government, has signed up three partners for its projects there.
The signing of the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The MoUs are with Neeta’s Herbal and KPJ Healthcare Herbals to develop and operate the International Vientiane Specialist Hospital in DSEZ, with Bonsong Bina and Semuga to develop two retail shopping centres and AutoCity centre, while Pestech is providing electrical and related infrastructure for the DSEZ.
The DSEZ, also known as the Vientiane Nelamit Project, covers a 53.9ha area within the Specific Economic Zone of Dongphosy, Vientiane.
Planned developments include hypermarkets, hotels, integrated resorts, shopping malls, tools and hardware malls, entertainment centre, bonded warehouses, medical centre, residential condominiums and serviced apartments, college and skills centre and office facilities.
UPL Lao managing director Damien Lim said: “The DSEZ project is of national importance to nation of Lao PDR and we are proud to be the concessionaire owner and spearheading and developing DSEZ.”
