Lao President awarded Vietnam’s honorary doctorate
The National Economics University (NEU) of Vietnam presented an honorary doctoral degree to the President of Laos Chummaly Saynhasone at a ceremony in Vientiane on August 28.
The president was honoured for the contributions he has made to the development of education-training and science-technology and the comprehensive cooperation between the two parties and nations in general.
Speaking at the awarding ceremony, President Chummaly Saynhasone thanked Vietnam for its great support for Laos in recent times, saying that he feels honored to receive the honorary degree from one of the most prestigious universities in Vietnam.
The NEU began to train officials for Laos from the 1963-1964 academic year.
Apart from training Lao students through cooperation programmes between the two governments, the university has also cooperated with the Lao side to hold many seminars addressing necessary issues to help the cause of national development in Laos.
The cooperation contributes to strengthening the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
