US praises Laos for pause in Mekong dam project

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton praised Laos as taking a "forward-leaning position" after the tiny, landlocked nation said it had no immediate plans to resume work on a dam across the Mekong River, a senior U.S. official said.

The dam _ a multibillion-dollar, 1,260-megawatt hydroelectric project _ would be the first across the river as it meanders through Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. China has dammed its upper reaches, but the 3,000-mile (4,900-kilometer) river otherwise runs free.

Opponents say construction in Laos could open the way for 10 more dams downstream. That could affect the lives of hundreds of millions of people.

You are right to make a comment as :

My understanding: "Join us" : 1/ to bring or put together, in contact or connection.
2/ to come into contact, connection, or union with.
3/ to bring together in relation, purpose, action, coexistence, etc to join forces.
4/ to become a member of ( a society, party, etc )
So Lao people abroad or Lao organization abroad can join your team by select any Number of 4.
You can name them as partnership, membership or friendship to support each other.


My interpretation: "Thiao thang diao Ya yiab hoy kanh"


Thiao thang diao ( Going the same path ):

1/ Fighting for democracy in Laos, 2/ Advocate the democracy in Laos, 3/ Buil the democracy in Laos

All Lao Political Organizations Abroad, PGNU and RLGE are but the Lao Associations in the local community to serve for the society and welfare totheir members are not in this situation.


"Ya yiab hoy kanh" ( Do not do the same thing ):
1/ Identical with what is about to be or has just been mentioned; the very same man.
2/ Being one or identical, though having different names, aspects, etc..: these are one and the same thing.


Example: Mr Khamphoui Sisavatdy RLGE related with Vietnam Seri Government so other group cannot join or related with Vietnam Seri Government.

Mr Somnuk Phongsouvanh ( LLDP ) related with Website and Radioi Seripaxathipatay - monthly.
Mr Bounthanh Ratthigna ( ULDL ) related with the Veteran - Lao American and the Center for Public Analysis.( Demonstration )
Mr Bounkhong and Charlie Moua ( LAD ) supports all Lao Organization and seek the support from the international Communities and UN.


Other Lao organisations have not raised in here some of them unsubscribed from the forum for many times and have not seen the information.
