Relief aid of 1 bln kip given to victims in Vientiane province
President of the Lao Red Cross, Dr. Snivourast Sramany, presented relief aid worth 1 billion kip to flood victims in Vangvieng and Kasy district, Vientiane province.
The relief items include 45 kg of rice and consumer goods for residents in six villages in Vangvieng district, including Khanhmark, Nakhae, Phonesoung, Vangsong, Houay-Ngam and Viengsay- Nalouang.
There are 224 families benefiting from the assistance.
Beneficiary villages of Kasy district include Thongmeuath, Nathene, Namon-Yai, Namon-Mai, Viengkeo, Nongbouathong and Phokham. Over 220 families in these villages receive the assistance from the Lao Red Cross.
The villages have been reportedly most hard-hit by the flooding prompted by typhoon Haima in the province.
The handover took place at the Vientiane Provincial Administration Office on September 3.
The donation is from Disaster Relief Emergency Fund of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
