Two arrested for smuggling ecstasy from Laos to Vietnam
Narcotics police in central Vietnam on Thursday arrested a Vietnamese and a Lao national for smuggling around 20,000 ecstasy tablets from Laos to Vietnam, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Quang Tri Province’s border guards apprehended Ho Van Thang, 19, of Quang Tri Province and Thao Xieng, a 38-year-old Lao man, at the Lao Bao International Border Gate.
Another smuggler took advantage of rain to successfully run to the forests.
The two detained suspects told the police they bought the ecstasy tablets in Laos and planned to give them to another member of a drug smuggling ring in Vietnam.
