Lao nationals caught trafficking drugs into Vietnam
Border guards have handed over two Lao nationals found transporting more than three kilograms of heroin from Laos into Vietnam to Lao police, the Vietnam News Agency reported Friday.
According to the High Command of Border Guards, Bun Thoong, 46, and Kham Chan, 43, were arrested on Thursday near the countries’ border in Phongsaly, Laos.
A raid on their houses in the Lao province later found 38 kilograms of opium, 25 taels of gold, and four military guns among other items, the news agency said.
The bust was conducted by border guards in the northern province of Dien Bien in cooperation with the High Command of Border Guards’ anti-drug department and Phongsaly police, it added.
