Vietnam and Laos have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the court sectors in the years to come.
The MoU was inked during the talks between Vietnamese Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh and his Lao counterpart, Khamphanh Sitthidampha, in Hanoi on Dec. 9.
Under the document, the two sides agreed to step up cooperative activities, focusing on improving capacity for Lao judges, providing equipment and enhancing the application of information technology for the Lao court sector.
The Vietnamese and Lao courts will continue increasing the exchange of delegations at both central and local levels in order to consolidate relations and share experience in judgement.
At the talks, both host and guest agreed that cooperation between the two court sectors has seen positive results over the past years, helping foster the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Khamphanh Sitthidampha spoke highly of the Vietnamese side’s assistance in training Lao court officials, especially judges.
The effective cooperation between the two court sectors was reflected by not only high-level visits but also the establishment of twin relations between the courts of seven Vietnamese and Lao provinces
