The Australian Greens want the ANZ Bank to suspend funding of a hydropower project in Laos until issues of harm to local communities affected by the dam are resolved.
The Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon has been visiting the Theun Hinboun Expansion project which is partly funded by the ANZ. She says some communities have lost access to food and income due to the dam. It is just one of 55 dams underway or planned in Laos which still wants to build the first one across the lower mainstream of the Mekong River.
