A 20 bln kip Mekong bridge development agreement signed
An agreement for a 20.8 billion-kip Mekong bridge construction project was signed in Vientiane last Wednesday.
The government of Holland has provided 2.18 million Euros as grant assistance for the development of the bridge spanning over the Mekong between Nasack and Khokkhaodor in Parklay district, Sayaboury province.
The development of which the completion is in 2014, is the first cooperation on basic infrastructure of communication development project between the Lao PDR and Holland.
The bridge is designed to have a 360-m length and 12-m width. It is in an economic corridor connecting between northern and north-eastern provinces and Vientiane Capital.
On the same day, an agreement on developing a road distance of 86 km stretching from Khamkeuth district in Borikhamsay through Nakhai district in Khammuoane was signed between the authorities of the said provinces and local contractors.
Signatories to the agreement signed on Dec 28 were Vice- Governor of Khammouane Mr. Somchay Phetsinouane, Vice- Governor of Borikhamsay Mr. Khambounnath Sayanonh, Director of the Road No. 15 R Construction Project Mr. Bounpheng Simoukda and Director of Phetsamone Construction Ms. Phetsamone Sengsavang.
According to the agreement, the road stretch will be developed with an investment of over 321 billion kip. It will be paved with two layers of asphalt.
The development is a priority of the government to reduce the poverty in Borikhamsay and Khammouane.
