Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has proposed that Vietnam and Laos boost bilateral cooperation, especially in economics, trade, and investment.
PM Dung said this while receiving Lao Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulit in Hanoi on March 16. He congratulated Laos on its achievements in national construction and socio-economic development, which have raised Laos’s position in the international arena.
The Government leader expressed his hope that the two foreign ministries will strengthen ties to contribute to fostering Vietnam-Laos relations.
Vietnam is always willing to help Laos host international conferences, he said.
For his part, Deputy PM Sisoulit asked Vietnam to share its experience in socio-economic development and proposed that both countries promote education about the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity and traditional relations among the youth.
During the reception, both sides agreed to work closely together to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2012 and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
