Military Zone 5 increases cooperation with Lao southern provinces

At the conference, the two sides reviewed the achievements of joint activities in 2011 and signed the Memorandum of Understanding for 2012.

Accordingly, the two sides will promote the exchange of information relating to security along the border to timely foil the plots of hostile forces.

The two sides will also continue to cooperate in the search and repatriation of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Laos.

Additionally, the two sides committed to actively deal with natural disaster consequences and step up border demarcation work.

The MoU signed this time shows that Vietnamese Military Zone 5 and its affiliates will continue supporting Lao Division 5 and four southern provinces of Laos to improve infrastructure and skills in unexploded ordnance clearance.

The Lao sides will facilitate former Vietnamese voluntary soldiers to visit their old battle fields and the performance of Military Zone 5 Arts Troupe in Laos this year on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos Friendship.
