Large amount of marijuana and heroin seized along Vietnam-Laos border
(VOV) - Vietnamese and Lao law enforcement agencies have confiscated a tonne of marijuana and 15kg of heroin from criminals, the largest amount of drugs ever seized so far.
On April 7, the Ha Tinh province border guards and the Bolikhamsai provincial police in Laos stopped a lorry with Lao number plates that was carrying one tonne of dried marijuana across the border.
The traffickers inside the vehicle managed to escape into the forest, and relevant agencies stepped in to further investigate the case.
The following day, a Laotian citizen named Xieng Phenh was arrested in the Lao village of Vieng Kham, carrying 39 cakes of heroin weighing a total of 15kg.
