Remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers repatriated from Laos
The Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee on May 10 held a memorial ceremony and reburial of 32 sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers and experts, who died during the war in Laos.
The experts and soldiers who had fallen in Savannakhet province, Laos were brought home after more than seven months of searching with the close coordination of authorities of Quang Tri province and Savannakhet province and support from the Lao side.
All sets of remains were reburied at the National Road 9 Cemetery in Quang Tri province.
This is 26th time the province has received fallen soldiers’ remains from Laos s ince 1993.
The repatriations highlighted the international friendship between Vietnam and Laos and represented the profound interest and gratitude of the Vietnamese Party, State and Quang Tri authorities and people to martyrs, who laid down their lives for national independence and an international mission.
