Nhan Dan Online - A memorial service was held on May 11 in the central province of Thua Thien - Hue to rebury the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and specialists who were killed in the Lao battlefield.

The remains of the 23 soldiers were found in Salavan and Sekong provinces in a joint effort between the Thua Thien - Hue Military Command and the Lao people and authorities over the past seven months.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Thua Thien Hue People’s Committee Ngo Hoa affirmed that the sacrifice of heroic Vietnamese volunteer soldiers symbolises the special solidarity between the two nations.

One set of remains, belonging to a soldier named Ha Quang Tinh, was previously reburied in his hometown of Hanoi. Following a flower and incense offering ceremony, the remaining sets of 22 fallen soldiers were reburied at the martyrs’ cemetery of Hue city.

Since 1993, the Thua Thien - Hue Military Command has found and repatriated the remains of nearly 700 Vietnamese soldiers and specialists in Laos.
