Lao Chief-of-General Staff visits Commando Officer school
PANO – While visiting the Vietnamese Commando Officer School, Major-General Suvon Luongbunmi, Chief-of-the-General Staff of the Lao People’s Army, and other members of Lao senior military delegation, praised officers and cadets at the School for their impressive demonstration on the morning of May 29 th .
The Lao guests had deep impression on techniques of camouflage, exercises, crossing obstacles and swoop by commandos.
The commando is an elite combat force of Vietnam People’s Army.
During the visit, the guests were briefed on great achievements of Commando. Simple devices, such as pieces of bamboo, bamboo string, and bamboo cylinder used as lethal weapons, came as a surprise to those guests. They could not imagine that bamboo strings can tie explosives and hand grenades together while iron hooks in shape of C, U and F help commando cross complicated obstacles and B40 fences.
Major Sutha Sisalat, who used to study at the Dalat Ground Forces Academy, confided that exercises performed by Commando were very difficult, requiring each soldier to be ingenious, brave with precise and rapid action.
For his part, Major-General Suvon Luongbunmi highly appreciated the study spirit of cadets as well as teaching methods of lecturers. He confirmed that what he had seen would be precious lessons for Lao People’s Army.
He also asked Lao cadets to well study and grasp all knowledge to later contribute to the building of Lao Army and defending Laos. He suggested Vietnam People’s Army in general, and Commando Arm in particular, continuing their assistance to Lao People’s Army in the coming time.
Major-General Tran Xuan Hoe, Commander of the Commandos, affirmed that the Commando Arms of Vietnam and Laos would actively cooperate and support each other to fulfill assigned tasks by the Party, the State of the Army of the two countries in the coming time.
