Police force of China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand completed a joint patrol on Mekong River on August 9, according to the Chinese news agency, Xinhua.
During the patrol, the fifth of its kind since last December, the four countries have established a contact point to strengthen law enforcement at the Golden Triangle.
Xinhua quoted Zhu Dezhong, the leader of Chinese patrol team as saying that with the joint patrol on the Mekong river and the establishment of the contact point, the joint law enforcement efforts of the four countries will be deepened to maintain shipping security in the area.
The four countries agreed at a meeting in Beijing last October to take joint action to crack down on cross-border crime and secure transportation along the Mekong River.
