VOV) - An agreement on exploring and processing kali salt in Nongbok district, Khammouan province in Laos worth US$450 million was signed in Vientiane on February 9.
The signing by Lao Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Bounthavi Sisouphanthong and Nguyen Dinh Khang, General Director of Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem), was witnessed by President Choummali Saignason and State President Truong Tan Sang, who has been on a visit to Laos.
The Vinachem-funded project covers an area of 10 square kilometers and has a design capacity of 320,000 tonnes of kali salt each year.
On completion, the project will provide enough kali salt for the Lao market, reducing its salt imports and giving a boost to economic development in Khammouan province.
