Vietnam, Laos celebrate 30 years of judicial cooperation
The Ministries of Justice of Vietnam and Laos jointly held a ceremony to mark the 30th
anniversary of their cooperation, in central Quang Binh province on September 7
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong said that over the past time, together with the cooperation in various fields such as politics, economics, military, diplomacy, science and technology, the legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries have been established and achieved encouraging results.
After three decades, the cooperation has continuously expanded to many areas, including human resource training, law-building, judicial administrative affairs, judicial assistance, legal information exchange and database building, he noted.
Lao Minister of Justice Chalon Nhiapaoho expressed his belief that the judicial cooperation between Vietnam and Laos will contribute to legal and judicial reforms in each country as well as to the special friendship and solidarity between the two nations.
At the ceremony, representatives of Vietnamese and Lao judicial agencies, training establishments and social-professional organisations signed five cooperation agreements.
On the occasion, Minister Cuong presented the Vietnamese State’s second-class Independence Order to Minister Chalon Nhiapaoho.
The Lao Minister of Justice also presented the Lao President’s second-class Independence Order to Minister Cuong and third-class Independence Order to the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice.
The same day, a delegation from Laos’ Champassak province led by its governor Sonphay Siphandone visited the central province of Khanh Hoa to boost bilateral cooperation.
