The Drug Crime Investigation Department, known as C47, has recently brought to light part of a trans-national drug ring following a six-month investigation.
The seized contraband included 24kg of heroin and 2.6kg of other drug types. According to police, the network relies on both ground and air transportation and uses tricks such as putting drugs in double-bottomed suitcases and stitching them into both sides of carrier-bags to evade detection.
C47 said it has detained about six individuals. The case continues to be investigated.
In early August, C47 also arrested three Lao nationals carrying 21kg of heroin and more than 1,000 drug tablets into Vietnam.
