A collection of works on the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam special relationship
in the 1930-2007 period made debut at a ceremony in Hanoi on October 19.
The works are the result of a joint project implemented over more than four years by historians and researchers of both countries, in line with an agreement between senior leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
The project aimed to sum up, evaluate and draw historical lessons from the relations between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos during the revolution process of the two countries, under the leadership of the Indochina Communist Party in the early time and later of the Vietnam Communist Party and the Laos People’s Revolutionary Party.
The collection comprises the main work entitled “The History of the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Special Relationship”, a collection of the two countries’ Party and Government documents, a chronicle, a collection of memoirs of party and government leaders of both countries, as well as of Vietnamese voluntary experts and soldiers serving in Laos in various periods, a pictorial book and a documentary film entitled “Vietnam-Laos Epic”.
Addressing the event, President Truong Tan Sang emphasised the need to popularise the works and at the same time, strengthen coordination with the Lao side to further research and improve the quality of the works in preparation for republication.
