Australia funds for maintenance of Hom Neua Primary School

(KPL) Australian Government has given more than 300 million kip to Hom Nuea primary school for maintenance and repair of its roof.
The fund was handed over by Australian Prime Minister, Mrs. Julia Gillard to the school in presence of both sides of high-ranking officials during her attendance to the ASEM9.
The fund has been given to in Hom Nuea primary school thanks to the Australian Government always giving an important to education development in Laos.
Australian Prime Minister Gillard was accompanied by Education Minister Khamphanh Viphavanh to visit Hom Nuea primary school.
Hom Nuea primary school built in 1935, located in Hardsayfong district, Vientiane Capital is now living in bad conditions.
Mrs. Gillard said the education is an important key and offers an opportunity to every people and every nation to permanent success.
Education provides knowledge, ability and skill to human being to meet achievement, target and participation in the society, she said, adding that Australia holds the education as the first priority.
The assistance project on education development in Laos funded by Australian government since 2007 participated to additional rate of school enrolment.
Presently more than 20,000 students finished primary school per year. It expects the primary students will be stood at over 320,000, of whom 150,000 are women in poor districts nationwide.
Director of Hom Nuea Primary School, Mr. Somvang Sithongbay said that so far our school had received maintaining and repairing and he pledged to use effectively this fund for roof maintenance.
(KPL 09 11 2012) The National Disaster Control and Prevention Committee has presented a US$ 20 million worth of vehicles and equipmentພາສາລາວບໍ່ບອກຕັວເລກ ມັນອາຍ!! to the central and provincial committee on disaster control and prevention committees to ensure their natural disaster response efforts in Laos.
The package has been procured with a financial grant from the government and people of Japan.
The handover ceremony of the donated package was held on Nov 7 at Dansang village, Saythany district, Vientiane Capital.
The donation was performed by Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Sommat Pholsena, and Office Head of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Nao Boutta in the witness of relevant officials
